"REVOLUTIONARY
WAR SWEETHEARTS AND SOLDIERS"
What was it like to be running a household in 1776 to
1800--did women have time to quilt? Kris will exhibit
her historical quilt, "Revolutionary War Sweethearts
& Soldiers" that she designed based on a print
made 200 years ago that glorifies not only the men, but
also the 20,000 women who were active in the American
Revolution. The quilt is a Medallion Style of the late
1700s period. Her pattern also includes a popular “Pocket”
worn by women in the 1600s and 1700s and a Stage Tavern
Sign catering to the majority of people of the era who
did not read or write. She will also speak about fabrics,
quilts, recipes, and being a "Frugal Housewife"
during the late 1700s.
